Free Everyday Placemat Pattern
Nothing says handmade home quite like a stack of beautiful fabric placemats — and this simple sewing project is the perfect way to start!
When we introduced our curated fabric collection, we wanted to create a few simple, beautiful patterns to inspire mindful making — projects that let you truly enjoy the process.
These placemats are our answer! Quick to sew, beginner-friendly, and made with nothing but straight lines. Even better? They’re just the first in a series of patterns we can’t wait to share.

What You'll Love about this Pattern:
-
Quick to sew — finish a set in an afternoon
-
Beginner-friendly but satisfying for any skill level
-
Great for gift-giving or sprucing up your dining table
-
Works beautifully with quilting cottons, linen, or scraps

Materials:
You will need about ½ yard of fabric for each placemat you plant to make.
The wonderful part of this pattern is how customizable it is! You can make them reversible, use scraps or even piece and quilt them! A quilted version is on my to-make list and I'll be sure to share them here.
We chose to use our Natty Flower Indian Block Print by Merchant and Mills, for this project but we've also had team members make reversible versions out of our quilting cottons and they turned out so cute! The combinations are endless!
