Introducing the Gather Bag Sewing Pattern | A Project Bag/Bucket

It all started last fall, when Bailey was trying to make herself a drawstring bag to hold some of her knitting projects. She was tired of bags with zippers (as they so frequently catch on yarn & strings) and wanted something that would fold down into a basket while she was working. Many versions later, the Gather Bag was born.

What we love about this pattern is how efficiently the fabric is used. You simply need 2, half yard cuts and you'll end up with minimal scraps. Such a win!! We've even got some ideas for how to use up those bits and bobs we will be sharing in future blog posts.

Whether you want to sew your own with your stash, pick up a project kit or simply grab a Gather Bag that was handmade in our studio, we have an option for you!

We had so much fun during testing exploring what each person dreamed up for their own versions and we can't wait to see what you come up with!

A favorite part of this pattern is what a great foundation it is to explore quilting, up cycling  - using scraps. This quilted bag was the first iteration of the Gather Bag that Bailey made and remains a favorite. We will be sharing a tutorial to make the patchwork outer in the future.

The bag comes as a digital sewing pattern, precut sewing kits (pattern included) or even premade bags if you aren't a sewist yourself! Whichever adventure you choose, these make wonderful gifts as well.

Happy Making!
